trumpet blowing

so there's this thing called the won report that lists the best DM and digital campaigns in the world, by aggregating the awards they've picked up into some kind of league table.

in the world of dm my creative partner and I came 28th for a campaign for InBev called Lost Souls. And we we were one of the teams working on a campaign called I'm In for Oxfam, which came 34th.

in the world of digital, the very same Lost Souls campaign came 17th. Which is higher than anything by this outfit called Crispin Porter whasitsname.

the stella is on me tonight.

read this

economics redefined by the internet. you don't get many copywriters harping on about that.

Forget squeezing millions from a few megahits at the top of the charts. The future of entertainment is in the millions of niche markets at the shallow end of the bitstream.

based on this article.

and happy new year and all that.

bunch of astra

so i see a lovelyish little astra banner that takes me to a moribund microsite about the various models. they're flogging the 'Sport Switch' functionality - you can go fast at the flick of a switch. what line do they use to desribe this function? A really, really poor one.

Here are just 2 definitions of touch and go:

1. Extremely uncertain or risky, as in It was touch and go after the surgery; we were not sure he'd survive it, or It was touch and go but they finally gave me a seat on the plane. This idiom implies that a mere touch may cause a calamity. [Early 1800s]

2.
a precarious or delicate state of affairs: It was touch and go there for a while during the operation.

nice

surely there's a radio ad for deaf people too.

subservient rudeness

blatant rip-off of type it in, see 'em do it microsites. this is brilliant

they are boutique shop assistants, who do what you tell them to. like. anything. in a benny hill style. in french.

and suddenly i have an idea. an interactive porn site. in a foreign language. would have been brilliant when I was a TEFl teacher.

anyway. have a play and practise your French. Currently trying to make them "produce decent rock music", but there seems to be no term for this.

linguisitically retarded perverts need not worry. 'strip' means 'strip' in just about any language.

Watch You Tube versions here

gorgeous

you will probably have seen the nice new boots Christmas ad

but look out for the much shorter spot featuring a phillips shaver, a man dressed up in a Santa suit, and a comedy beard. about as gorgeous as a dog turd.

who says

my friends and i look out for these kind of howlers. apologies for the shakey camera hand.

who says you can't make Rioja out of velvet? well, quite. or put another way, no one. ever.

like the car ad asking who says you can't have power and performance.

or the million other iterations of this rubbish phrase.

I can only point to here.

save as you shop

is it me or is this Amex RED email a bit crass?

but i like the way the African guy is happy because he doesn't have aids, and doesn't even mind that he has a stick for a leg. and is that Heather Mills on the left?
